Our hotel, Mak’s Cave House, opened in June 2021 in the town of Uçhisar in Cappadocia. It is a small boutique hotel with a unique view of a wide area of Cappadocia, including the Uçhisar Castle, the highest point of Cappadocia behind us, the Pigeon Valley in front of us, and Mount Erciyes in front of us. My name is Makbule, and I am the founder and manager of this business.

I was born and raised in Cappadocia, but my dream was to live in big cities and work for big companies. So, I chose to become an engineer and worked in the textile industry for 20 years in three different countries. During this time, I had the chance to travel around the world and see new places. Every time I discovered a new place and returned to Cappadocia, I realized how unique and magnificent this place is. I fell in love with it more and more with each visit. I wanted to have a place of my own in Cappadocia, but it had to be in Uçhisar, because nowhere else had the same view.

Although it was a challenging process, my husband and I managed to buy a small place. In 2013, we bought our current hotel, which was an old house with three cave rooms and a completely destroyed front and collapsed roof. So, I had a reason to return to Cappadocia, where I had previously escaped.

Since everything in Cappadocia is controlled by UNESCO to be in its original form, our architect and I found old pictures and restored them to their original form with a proper project that matched the original. All three cave rooms were kept in their original form, including the smallest niches, which were over a thousand years old. Other stone structures were also rebuilt with volcanic stones, preserving their original form.

All the craftsmanship in our hotel was done by our skilled workers. The best stone craftsman in the region, Muzaffer, carved all the stones with traditional designs, making columns and arches. Ferhat, the best carpenter in the region, and his team made all the furniture from natural wood.

We created comfortable rooms with different concepts suitable for the region’s texture, with natural decoration, so that our guests can feel the natural structure of the volcanic walls and observe the touch of history on their comfortable beds. We had bedding, towels, and bathrobes specially made for the comfort of your skin.

When you wake up in the morning and go to the terrace, you can see Mount Erciyes in front of you, standing upright in the reddish sky behind it, wondering why civilizations that have lived for thousands of years deified this mountain. Then, you can watch the unique spectacle of hot air balloons rising up in the colorful sky, flickering like giant fireflies from everywhere. In the silence that is dominated by the sound of birds, you can take a deep breath of fresh air, sip your coffee, and enjoy the moment.

You can enjoy your time in our terrace which is completely furnished with traditional open carpets and cushions, or have your unique breakfast while enjoying the view from our glass terrace. I would like to mention that while preparing our very rich breakfast, every type of food is carefully selected and homemade fresh.

You can spend your time in our terraces with different beauties throughout the day, drink free tea and coffee, and taste our homemade cake as much as you like.

As our hotel is located in Uçhisar town, you can visit Uçhisar Castle and Pigeon Valley by walking, and you can reach Göreme by walking through Pigeon Valley.

Our hotel is 7-8 minutes away from Göreme by car, 12 minutes away from Avanos, 15 minutes away from Ürgüp, and 20 minutes away from Kaymaklı Underground City. It is 30 minutes away from Nevşehir Airport (NAV) by car, 1 hour away from Kayseri Airport (ASR), and 15 minutes away from Nevşehir Bus Station. We provide all kinds of transfer services, including shuttle service, taxi, and VIP transfers, when you do not have a car.
